Now there is a new man at the helm, Kevin Shore. As an old boy and former teacher and deputy principal at St Augustine’s College, Mr Shore is familiar with Catholic education in Whanganui.
Through these opportunities we encourage the children to look at themselves ‘ the qualities they have and those they are yet to develop that will enable them to be leaders in their lives.

Stewardship involves the realisation that everyone has gifts which God calls them to share for the good of everyone. In a parish community, people bring different gifts which, when combined, help the community to realise the Kingdom of God.
She, who put Jesus at the centre of her life as the church encourages us to do, shines from the gospels as the ‘apostle to the apostles’ – the one commissioned to spread the good news. The wider church must recognise that there are many lay men and women who do likewise ‘ unordained, but leaders just the same.
The appointment has not been universally welcomed. Some of the catechists were expecting that an ordained minister would fill the vacancy left by Fr Maleko Api Tufuga’s move to parish-based ministry.
