St Mary’s College breaks its fast with funky food

Funky fit food for healthy teenagers was the brief and last month the year 9 technology students at St Mary’s College invited local MP Marian Hobbs and others to breakfast to sample the results. This year the college has embraced the Ministry of Health’s theme of ‘healthy eating healthy action’ which pervades the different strands of the school’s technology programme.

Pentecost challenge: called to be the ‘breath of life’

Breath is life. A parishioner collapsed during a recent Sunday Mass in Newtown. A nurse in the congregation pinched his nose and breathed into his mouth while another nurse pushed up and down on his chest. We saw life return. It all happened during the Creed when we were about to pray, ‘We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life.’

Investment schemes boost WYD pilgrim travel purse

The Catholic Development Fund (CDF) is to match dollar for dollar in interest earned on special accounts set up to raise money for pilgrims from the archdiocese to World Youth Day in Sydney next year. And, if the special schemes amass a million dollars, CDF which is a major supporter of World Youth Day, will further boost the schemes by putting $35,000 into the WYD common travel fund.

WYD registration opens

If you want to go to World Youth Day in July 2008 now is the time to find a group under which to register. From that group, one person will register themselves online as a group leader, indicating the best estimate of how many people will later register in their group. The latest date for group leader registration is 15 June this year. Once the group leaders are registered, people can register under a group leader as pilgrims for Sydney.
