During a special time at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit midday Mass on Friday 3 May, Kevin Frost was installed as the new Conference President for Palmerston North, taking over from Rose Semmens. Two new members, Rick Field and James Kissell, were also commissioned.
Patrick Shanahan, a Wellington-born baritone and parishioner at Te Awakairangi Parish in Lower Hutt, has recently completed his Bachelor of Music with Honours in vocal performance at The New Zealand School of Music – Te Kōkī, at Victoria University of Wellington.
Speaking to the Confirmation candidates Archbishop Paul reminded them, as well as everyone in the congregation, that the values displayed behind the altar during Mass, are sealed in us by the Holy Spirit through the Sacrament of Confirmation: love, peace, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, chastity, patience, humility, generosity, joy, goodness and self-control.
The 2024 Clergy Jubilee Mass was held at Ss Peter and Paul Church Lower Hutt on 6 July, marking significant milestones of priestly ministry by the jubilarians. The Christian Life Community and the Bicultural Relationships Committee of the archdiocesan Ecology, Justice and Peace Commission are hosting a hui about the Treaty of Waitangi and Catholic Social Teaching, the Treaty as a covenant, te reo in Liturgy and daily life and blessings of a bicultural future.
