Parishioners of Holy Family Parish in Gonville, Whanganui, gained a real understanding of the many tongues heard on the first Pentecost when they attended an international Mass at the parish’s vigil on Saturday night.
The Catholic people of Whanganui and the Whanganui River spent Pentecost Sunday with Bishop Peter Cullinane. All Sunday Masses in the parishes of St Anne’s, Holy Family and St Mary’s were cancelled and a combined Mass was celebrated at St Mary’s.

Last month family leadership in parishes and pastoral areas took centre stage for five people who graduated from a Leadership in Family Ministry course.
The Board is looking for a lay person to fill this position which will give the four or so Sisters still at the Centre more freedom to work at the ‘coal face’, interacting with, advocating for and otherwise assisting people in need.
Aniela Tkacz and Sarah Brown-Toganivalu have won the Mr M and Mrs T Olechnowicz scholarship for people of Polish descent.
